Camp Croft, South Carolina
US Army Infantry Replacement Training Center

Apparently only used the first couple of years the camp was open, these are seen on the private vehicles of officers assigned to the camp. The background of the first few I had seen were dark blue but since then I have seen examples of yellow, white, and red as well.  Likely this color coding denoted specific personnel but it is unknown at this time what it means. Tell us about your license plate or other memorabilia from Camp Croft!

A December 1944 edition of "The Spartan" newspaper from Camp Croft indicates that window decals would be replaced with metal "bumper plates" affixed to the front bumper of registered vehicles.  That made us think these official licenses plates were only used in 1941 and 1942, replaced for a period by decals, and then another type of bumper plate, possible the one at the bottom of this page, were then used.
