God’s Peace be with you all.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-14
9 What gain have the workers from their
toil? 10 I have seen the business that God
has given to everyone to be busy with. 11 He
has made everything suitable for its time; moreover he
has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet
they cannot find out what God has done from the
beginning to the end. 12 I know that there
is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy
themselves as long as they live; 13
moreover, it is God's gift that all should eat and drink
and take pleasure in all their toil. 14 I
know that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can
be added to it, nor anything taken from it; God has done
this, so that all should stand in awe before him.
Summer is officially over. Labor Day is here,
and long with it comes a hectic and busy time of our lives.
Things always seem to ramp up in this time from Labor Day
until Christmas. That is true both in our personal lives
and in the life of the church. For us, things are just
starting to pick back up again. We have a lot on the
schedule for this fall. Just when we want to seem to slow
things down and enjoy this time of year, we know that we
can’t stop.
So what all is on our schedule? Here are a few
of the highlights:
·
Chili Cookoff Sept
15 5:30pm
·
First Youth Group
meeting Sept 15 (at 5, just before the chili cookoff)
·
Bible Study resumes
this Wednesday
·
Fall in the Park
·
Our fall service at
Lake Bowen will be in October
·
Oktoberfest
·
Reformation and All
Saints Sunday
·
Fall Bazaar
·
Thanksgiving
·
Then we begin Advent
(with a new bulletin format)
·
Advent Dinner
·
Christmas Parade
·
Christmas
If you
thought it was a short list, think again. That’s enough for
now to keep us busy, even in the midst of taking one last
day off from “work”. What will we gain from this? That
remains to be seen, but given that we are on our way to
having a record breaking year (weekly attendance, giving,
and new members), I think it will be an outcome that is
pleasing to everyone.
In our
prayers this week: Bobby, Ann, Jim A., Gere (room 557
(not the tower) at Regional), Jerry V., Mike C., David
Ancell (friend of Betty’s), and Fairy (room 805 at
Regional).
God’s Peace,
Pastor Judson
