Weekly Devotional

March 1, 2010

God’s Peace be with you all.

For our devotional this week, I offer up some psalms for you to reflect on.

Psalm 77:1-20  I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, that he may hear me.  2 In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted.  3 I think of God, and I moan; I meditate, and my spirit faints. Selah  4 You keep my eyelids from closing; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.  5 I consider the days of old, and remember the years of long ago.  6 I commune with my heart in the night; I meditate and search my spirit:  7 "Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable?  8 Has his steadfast love ceased forever? Are his promises at an end for all time?  9 Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?" Selah  10 And I say, "It is my grief that the right hand of the Most High has changed."  11 I will call to mind the deeds of the LORD; I will remember your wonders of old.  12 I will meditate on all your work, and muse on your mighty deeds.  13 Your way, O God, is holy. What god is so great as our God?  14 You are the God who works wonders; you have displayed your might among the peoples.  15 With your strong arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah  16 When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; the very deep trembled.  17 The clouds poured out water; the skies thundered; your arrows flashed on every side.  18 The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook.  19 Your way was through the sea, your path, through the mighty waters; yet your footprints were unseen.  20 You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Psalm 91:1-16  You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,  2 will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."  3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence;  4 he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.  5 You will not fear the terror of the night, or the arrow that flies by day,  6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or the destruction that wastes at noonday.  7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.  8 You will only look with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.  9 Because you have made the LORD your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place,  10 no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent.  11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.  12 On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.  13 You will tread on the lion and the adder, the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.  14 Those who love me, I will deliver; I will protect those who know my name.  15 When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them.  16 With long life I will satisfy them, and show them my salvation.

Psalm 100:1-5   Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth.  2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come into his presence with singing.  3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.  5 For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

In our prayers this week:  Diane, Ann, Lisa, Robert, Catherine, and Gail H.

God’s Peace,

Pastor Judson
