Hello, The Oeland(Henningsen) family are my ancestors and I was excited to find your images and inscriptions of the cemetery on Camp Croft grounds. I am looking for more information about their life in Spartanburg, and particularly how their land eventually became the site of Camp Croft. Thank you. Jane Sweetland

Omaha beach, Bastogne, etc attached to the 2nd Inf Div. What happened to them
and to Pvt Branciforte?

  To Mr. Philpott.
I worked at a veterans hospt. for 23 years. I was trained to wear a strong face but my heart always ached when we lost a love one. Never have I been so proud as to care for our military women and men and I gave it my all.

Know that many of us share silent tears as they read about your father.

May God bless you Mr. Philpott

Love, Paulet
(N.C.)

May God bless you.

Sadly, I must report the passing of my father today, Friday, January 29. Glenn E. (Zeke) Philpott, sergeant of the first platoon, 40th I.R.T.C was 95 years old. He was very proud of the time he served from the start to the finish of WWII. He was especially proud of the two years he served as a drill sergeant at Camp Croft. He fondly remembered the " pretty girls and pecan pie" from Carolina. Thank you to all who served in WWII--you were truly "the Greatest Generation."
