HARMAN FAMILY CEMETERY
about 1836

This cemetery is located in Croft State Natural Area on Thompson creek between Lake Johnson and Lake Craig.  The nearest auto route ends at the Lake Johnson recreation area and you will have to hike from there.

J.N. HARMAN /  Died July 12 / 1836 Aged 3 ys.

Gone Home / M.B. HARMAN / Died Sept. 8 1874 / Aged 68 Yrs. *

M.A. HARMAN / Died July 14 / 1836 Aged 1 y.

T.W. HARMAN / Died Oct. 11, 1871 / Aged 23 Yrs.

* From www.familysearch.org, this appears to be Mary Bomar (Foster) Harman, wife of John Preston Harman.  John's will was probabted in 1881 in Spartanburg County.  The couple lived in the area of Rich Hill, SC (in present day Croft State Natural Area) and had 12 children.   Two died young, J.N. and M.A. shown above.  The others were Mary Catherine (1831), Sarah (1834), Francis (1837), twins John  Franklin & Joseph Samuel (1839), Laura Caroline (1840), Philip Asberry (1841), James Russell (1844), Tom (1848) [probably T.W. above], and Marion (1853).  Laura married David M. Lancaster on March 29, 1866.
