"BOOT HILL CEMETERY"
This was a "scare" cemetery created by US Army trainer cadre. It
consists of two wooden markers with illegible writing as well as two
large holes that appear to be open graves. From the Citizen
Advertiser, Auburn, NY comes a story about Rev. Dr. Frank L. Gosnell who
was assigned as a Camp Pastor in the summer of 1944. Dr Gonsell
told the story of "... "Boot Hill Cemetery" in the wooded area of
the Camp where one comes upon an open grave amid a score of
mound-covered imitation graves. Upon each tombstone is recorded a
sentence warning the trainees of the perils of "the wrong thing to do"
on the field of battle.
