A Camp Croft Panel Discussion a 68th Anniversary celebration of the opening of training at the camp
PENDING RESCHEDULE - Please check back soon or contact us for info! We are proud to announce a special military history event to be held in 2009. Veterans who served at the former Camp Croft, a US Army Infantry Replacement Training Center located near Spartanburg (1941-1946), will be invited to participate in a panel discussion of their experiences. Civilians employed at the camp or had other recollections of the camp and the soldiers who trained there will also be represented in the panel. The entire event will be open to the public and free of charge. While the panel will be limited to 6 to 8 persons, we would like to have as many ex-Crofters present as possible. This event will replace the Camp Croft Veterans Reunion that has been held semi-annually over the last few years. Similar to the reunions, this event will include special recognition of veterans, a reception with light refreshments, and a special room rate being negotiated at the nearby Spartanburg Marriott at Renaissance Park. The event will be open to the public and will give our veterans the opportunity to share their recollections one-on-one with members of the Spartanburg community. Please make plans to attend (we will have a new date soon but it will be no earlier than May) and pass the word on to your fellow ex-Crofters! If you are traveling to Spartanburg, it may be best to plan for an overnight stay on Saturday at the Marriott or another area hotel. Contact us for reservation information.
We have several special additions planned this year to both educate and entertain you! Stay tuned to this page for updates as they become available.
