This is a total immersion,
non-spectator event. There will be no spectators at any phase of
this event. The event is specifically and exclusively aimed at
the enjoyment and involvement of the participants. The purpose of
this event is to impart to the participants the experiences of the
civilian inhabitants
of the immediate area of this North Carolina battle and the military of
both the Confederate and Federal forces as they moved through the area
and engaged in one of the war's most vicious fights. Military
forces will engage in foraging for supplies and food and civilians will
survive as both forces attempt to live off the land as had been Gen.
William T. Sherman's practice for some months before in his March to
the Sea in Georgia.
