  • Comments: From Ed "Michael Arrowood is very good with CW and Henderson County History. He is the event coordinator for a BlueGray Heritage Weekend program sponsored by the local SCV to be held in Mills River, NC. Which is basically near the Asheville Airport, convenient to I-26. It will be the weekend of May 1st, they will be pretty strict about vehicles in camp, and would like folks to arrive Friday night. The focus is on living history, though I'm sure there would be firing demonstrations. There may be a skirmish, numbers permitting, but I think they would be more interested in cooking demos, talks, drill, sabre and otherwise. I also thought it would be a good shakedown for those wishing to attend Pickett's Mill."

High Hampton, Cashiers, NC

  • Comments: Mounted Living History at Guilford Courthouse Military Park.  The park's head ranger Donald Long is really looking forward to us coming - they rarely have horses in the park.  This is a great opportunity for us and if we pull it off correctly it will open a lot of doors in the future!  We should really put forth a max effort to attend.

Huck's Defeat, Historic Brattonsville, SC
Musgrove Mill Living History, near Clinton, SC

Seventh Annual Symposium on SC Civil War History, Columbia, SC

  • Dates: September 25, 2004
  • Host/Sponsor: SC Archives And History Center and SC Confederate Relic Room
  • POC: Neill
  • Impression: See comments below
  • Website:
  • Comments: Neill Sez: "The Symposium will be at the SC Archives And History Center as it was last year.  The PLHA has the opening lecture from 8:30-9:15am.  The title is: "Supplying the Confederacy: English Arms and Equipment through the Blockade".  This is a very large and expansive topic but one I know we can do a great job with.  Basically, we'll give a general overview of the blockade, CS purchasing efforts abroad and the goods that were brought in and actually used by the Confederate soldier.  There will be a big focus on having the attendees see the goods on the soldiers along with passing articles around.  This received rave reviews last year and I'm sure this year will be no different.  I am going to be contacting Chris Daley to see if he would be willing to partner with us on this and supply some English overcoats, Tait uniforms, etc. to use as demo pieces.  As a special treat, PLHA participants will be able to attend the evening dinner with author Gordon Rhea as the guest speaker."
